The Village of Rantoul is offering a $50 rebate to residential utility customers (homeowners only) when they purchase and install a “smart” thermostat, beginning with units purchased on or after May 1, 2021. To be eligible for the rebate, applications must be submitted within 120 days from the date of purchase. Limit 2 rebates per residential property.

Who’s Eligible?

Rebate applicants must be a Village of Rantoul Electric Utility customer in good standing and not otherwise negligent on obligations to the municipality.

What Do I Need To Do?

1. Purchase and install any brand of smart thermostat (with Wi-Fi capability to allow remote temperature adjustments). All makes and models are included in the rebate.
2. Complete the rebate application.
3. Send your rebate application with your documentation to the Village of Rantoul Public Works Office at 200 W Grove Ave, Rantoul IL 61866 or email everything to myrebate@myrantoul.com.

a. Documentation should include: Dated purchase receipt, UPC code with Model and Serial numbers, Installation confirmation e-mail with activation date and unit serial number.

Once an application has been verified and the rebate application fully processed, customers will receive a one-time $50 credit on their utility bill or a check within two months. Rebates will be offered until all funding is allocated.

What is a Smart Thermostat?

Smart thermostats help you save energy – as they automatically and remotely control heating and cooling within a home, versus a resident having to manually adjust their temperature. Smart thermostats can even learn residents’ temperature preferences and schedules and automatically adjust heating or cooling to those preferred levels. Several brands of smart thermostats are available for purchase at a variety of retail locations or online; all makes and models will be eligible under this rebate program.
